THE NBA AND HOW IT WORKS PART TWO(2)

In the last post, we portrayed the various conferences and divisions that each basketball team belongs to. In this continuation of that post, we would examine how this team compete and play during the regular season and fight to qualify for the postseason.
The regular season in this league starts from late October to the middle of April. As already discussed in the previous post, each team plays eighty two(82) games during this time and they fight to win their positions in their conferences so that they can qualify for the Postseason which normally starts in late April.
Let's back up a little bit so that we can really understand how this works. These teams in their respective conferences compete and play against eachother. The more a team wins games during the regular season, the higher the position of the team on its table.
It is worth pointing out that there is a table for Western conference teams and the Eastern conference teams and so this means that the team with the highest number of wins during the regular season in the Easten conference, tops that conference at the end of the season and so it goes also for the Western conference. The final position of a team in the table at the end of the regular season is called its 'seed' and so if a team, say in the Western conference finshes in the top position at the end of the saeson, that team is the first seed.
To sum it all up in an instance, if a team in the Western conference wins seventy two(72) games in the regular season and losses ten(10) and they have the amount of largest wins in that conference, they end the season in the top position in that conference making them the first seed and the same goes for the Eastern conference as well.
After the regular season, we talk about the Postseason. Sixteen teams qualify to play in the postseason whereby eight teams with the best win records from each conference play against eachother. This is normally when the main season starts for some players because this is when they now compete to win a championship which in basketball, a championship is all that counts. In more basketball terms, it is called a championship ring.
Unlike in soccer where teams and players compete in several competitions like the champions league and premier league inorder to win, nba teams compete for just one trophy or better called, championship at the end of the season.
The team right now in the league with the most championship is the Boston Celtics(17) while the most recent championship was won by the Golden State Warriors and the player with the most rings is Bill Russell with eleven(11). He played the center position for the Boston Celtics and he played from 1956-1969.
The postseason fondly called the 'Playoffs' is then when these sixteen teams compete against eachother, western teams play western teams while eastern teams faceoff against eachother. The first seed plays the eight seed, second seed plays the seventh seed, third seed plays the sixth seed, then the fourth seed plays the fifth seed.
Remember that these teams are still playing against eachother in their respective conferences.
The playoffs is a game seven(7) series whereby the team with the best win ratio after seven games moves to the next round while the other team goes home and waits for another season which is normally like a year which is a really long time right? This is why, teams always bring their A-game to the playoffs so that they don't go home too early.
Sometimes, it doesn't always go down to a seven game series normally because one team has a way better win ratio than the other team, hence the remaining games don't need to be played. Take for instance, after five games and one team has won four(4) games compared to the other team who has won only one(1) game, the series would come to an end at this point because the losing team cannot win this series again, even though they win the remaining two games.
It is also worth noting here that there is something we call the 'home court advantage ' during this series. The teams that have a larger win ratio during the regular season has the home court advantage during this series whereby four games are played on their home court while three are played on the oppsition's court.
Let me not bore you with too much detail for now, going forward, we would talk more on the playoffs and its system.
